People Doing Things #2
Thoughts and People.
Benchmarking and pattern matching are fundamental in picking people. We develop taste as a result of it. This is also true in design.
Last week was the start (#1) of curating people doing asymmetrical things and operating with high agency. This is Issue #2.
Kei Hayashi - currently 17. He founded LocalHostHQ at 15, a fellowship + fund (checks upto $100K) to back builders all over the globe. He visited universities and accelerators across Europe, Japan, and India, to source exceptional people.
Sulaiman Khan Ghori - designed and built a liquid-fueled rocket engine in his backyard. He is currently at xAI and building Khan Space Industries.
Ivan Yevenko - is interested in artificial life research. He is going to run calculus.house in SF this summer - assembling a group of motivated independent researchers to work on hard problems. He previously cofounded globe.engineer.
Aida Baradari - is interested in human augmentation. She co-founded the Augmentation Lab, and turned down NASA to run two summer residencies. She and her team built a robotic limb. Aida also interviewed Bill Gates, and is now working on her startup to detect and prevent always-on recording devices.
